ADPS (Automated Data Processing System) and ESPAS (Electronic Serials Publication Alert Service) are two computer-based systems used to manage and distribute electronic resources in libraries and information science. ADPS is a software system that automates many library management tasks such as cataloguing, circulation, and acquisitions. It enables librarians to track book and material circulation, manage library collections, and provide access to electronic resources such as e-books and online journals. ADPS can also be used to generate reports and statistics on library usage and performance, assisting librarians in making informed resource allocation and management decisions. In contrast, ESPAS is a service that sends out automated alerts when new issues of electronic journals are published. It keeps librarians up to date on the latest research in their field by sending out timely notifications when new articles are published. ESPAS can be tailored to individual libraries’ and users’ needs, allowing them to choose the journals and topics that are most relevant to them.
