Ammonium persulfate (APS), a stable salt of peroxodisulfuric acid, is a strong, efficiently dosed oxidising agent and an excellent free radical generator in aqueous media. RheinPerChemie (RPC) offers the product in the form of a colourless, odourless, crystalline powder. Due to its high purity and low water content, APS from RheinPerChemie has good storage stability and enables safe handling. Like many ammonium salts, APS has hygroscopic properties and tends to clump when stored in the open. However, this can be suppressed by adding small amounts of special silicas. Ammonium persulfate is characterised by its high solubility in water.

Due to its high oxidation potential, APS can decompose under unfavourable conditions. The product is not flammable but has a fire-promoting effect.

Storage & Handling

Only use containers that are approved specifically for the substance/product. Do not store combustible materials. Refrain from storing together with reducing agents. Do not store together with acids and alkalies. Keep the container tightly closed. Store in a dry place. Keep the container in a well-ventilated area. Protect from heat/overheating.
Use only in well-ventilated areas. Work under the hood. Do not inhale the substance. Provide vacuuming if dust is raised. Avoid the formation and deposition of dust. Avoid direct contact with eyes and skin. Use personal protective equipment. The product is not combustible. Keep away from all sources of ignition.
